Research notes, genealogical records and charts, letters, accounts, deeds, typed memoirs, photographs, postcards, maps, articles, transcriptions, clippings, and other materials on the history of the Town of Southold, with emphasis on local families, historic sites, houses, and buildings. Other topics include mills, schools, churches, shipping, whaling, the Long Island Railroad, the Brick Store/Prince Building on Main Street in Southold, and the town of Southwold, England, for which Southold is named. Collection includes research materials and photos used in establishing historical markers in the communities of Southold, Peconic, and Arshamomaque (Hashamomuck), and in writing the "Guide to Historical Markers," published by the Southold Historical Society, 1960; a scrapbook of photos and programs from the Southold Tercentenary, 1940, and materials on the celebrations of the town's 275th and 325th anniversaries.
